Amber Heard Reveals She Met Elon Musk at Met Gala in 2016 After Being ‘Stood Up’ by Johnny Depp

Amber Heard testified in court that designer Ralph Lauren invited her and Johnny Depp to the Met Gala 2016. She said that JD didn’t show up for the event, leaving Heard to attend alone. On Monday, Heard testified in a multi-million dollar defamation case in Fairfax, Virginia, that she met Tesla creator Elon Musk on May 2, 2016, at a red carpet event in New York City.

The 36-year-old actress alleged Depp “effectively stood me up on the red carpet” in May 2016, after their disagreement during her 30th birthday party the previous month, as the defamation trial between Depp and Heard continued Monday in Fairfax, Virginia.

“Johnny missed a fitting because it was happening around the date of my birthday party in Los Angeles, but we were planning on going together as Ralph Lauren’s guests,” said Heard.

Heard told the court that on May 2, 2016 she went to the Met Gala without Depp. The former couple were invited by the designer Ralph Lauren but Depp failed to turn up for his fitting, she said. Heard said that she went by herself and that Depp was a no-show

She said she “didn’t know” Depp wasn’t going to the Met Gala because his crew refused to contact her, according to Heard.

“So I ended up going by myself,” said the Aquaman 2 actress from her place on the stand. “I sat next to an empty place setting for Johnny that they cleared as soon as we realized he effectively stood me up on the red carpet.”

Heard went on to say that she first came in contact with Musk, 50, on the red carpet.

Heard began dating the Tesla founder around the time of her split with Depp in May 2016 and by August the following year they had broken up

“I didn’t recognize [Elon] until we started talking and he reminded me we had met once before,” she said, adding that the Tesla and SpaceX CEO “was with his mother,” Maye Musk, at the event.

“He seemed like a real gentleman,” Heard continued of Musk. “He was really nice. He sat at a nearby table and we got to speaking that night and eventually became friends.”

Elon Musk and Amber Heard broke up in August 2017, they didn’t start seeing each other until May 2016 and their relationship didn’t become quite romantic until some time later.

Heard told The Hollywood Reporter in December 2018, “Elon and I had a beautiful relationship, and we have a beautiful friendship now, one that was based on our core values. Intellectual curiosity, ideas, and conversation, a shared love for science. We just bonded on a lot of things that speak to who I am on the inside. I have so much respect for him.”

Heard and Depp met while filming The Rum Diary in 2011 and married in 2015. Heard filed for a domestic violence restraining order against him in May 2016, accusing him of beating her. Depp rejected the allegations, and the former couple reached an out-of-court settlement in August 2016.
