Arnold Schwarzenegger refused to financially support his son after he graduated from college

Joseph Baena, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, has in many ways continued his father’s legacy. The actor from Terminator and his former housekeeper, Mildred Baena, are the parents of the 24-year-old. In 2011, Baena learned the 74-year-old Hollywood legend was his father from his grandmother. Since then, he has said that the realization “changed” his life.

Following in his father’s footsteps, the college graduate wants to become an actor and a bodybuilder. However, he is now employed in real estate, which helps pay the bills when the actor who was providing financial support for him stopped doing so.

“I’m really grateful that my dad helped me get through college,” Baena said on the Unwaxed Podcast. “But right when college was done, it was just like, ‘You go. You’re on your own.’ I was like, ‘Oh, s**t’,” he added.

Currently employed by the Los Angeles real estate firm ARIA Properties, Baena claims that he would be able to support himself after completing his education thanks to the job.

“I needed a job, and I was not getting any of the acting roles that I thought I was going to get,” he said. “I was like, ‘I need to do something, so I started interning at this real estate company.”

He initially worked as an intern for the company in the hopes of securing a permanent salary. However, he quickly realized that he had a knack for the real estate industry and eventually obtained his license.

With his license in hand, Baena is now able to lawfully lease, sell, or broker real estate to potential renters and buyers. He posted a picture of himself outside the house on Instagram as he celebrated selling his first house earlier this year.

However, Beana claimed that he still fantasizes about being a Hollywood celebrity like his Austrian-American actor and appearing in blockbuster movies.

“I just love having a goal and then going for it,” he said. “With acting, I know that my goal is to be a reputable actor and win some awards.”

The real estate agent was featured in Men’s Health magazine’s March issue and explained how the news of his A-list father began to spread in high school.

“I remember the day very vividly,” he said. “I was in the eighth grade. Fifth or sixth period. And I get called out of class to leave. And my mom’s there, and she’s like, ‘We gotta go – everyone is finding out about you and who your father is.'”

Beana said: “I’m 13,” he recalled. “Your body’s transforming; your mind is transforming. And now my life transformed before my eyes.”

In January, Beana explained in an interview with Inside Edition why he has decided not to take the former California governor’s surname.

“Well I already have a last name, and I don’t have a problem with my last name,” he disclosed. “I like my last name.”
