Courteney Cox says she ‘doesn’t remember filming’ so many Friends episodes

Courteney Cox has admitted she doesn’t remember much of her time filming Friends. Cox, 57, recently sat down with Today’s Willie Geist for a “Sunday Sitdown” interview and shared that there were a lot of “gaps” in her memory when it came to the iconic show.

When she sat down with her fellow cast members for Friends: The Reunion in May 2021, she realized she didn’t remember many of the episodes they were looking back on.

“I should have watched all 10 seasons because when I did the reunion and was asked questions, I was like, ‘I don’t remember being there,'” the 57-year-old said. “Yeah. I don’t remember filming so many episodes.”

Last year, Cox, Perry, David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow reunited for the highly anticipated Friends reunion special The One Where They Get Back Together.

After being put back multiple times during the pandemic, Friends: The Reunion finally aired in May of last year.

Cox went on: “I see it on TV sometimes and I stop and go, ‘Oh my God, I don’t remember this at all,'” Cox added. “But it’s so funny.”

She admitted that she has a “bad memory” and doesn’t remember many things from her life beyond shooting the iconic sitcom.

“It’s really basic,” she said. “I don’t remember any trauma in my childhood, but I have, like, three memories. I don’t know. I don’t know why.”

“I’m kinda bummed that we didn’t spend more time taking pictures. Because I don’t have a lot to look back at,” she added.

It comes after Cox stated that Matthew Perry, who plays sarcastic Chandler Bing, put a lot of pressure on himself to be hilarious during filming sequences.

The actors’ respective performances as Geller and Bing in the popular 1990s sitcom about five twenty-somethings living together in New York City made them household stars.

And Cox believes that every time the cameras were rolling, her former co-star felt forced to make the studio audience laugh.

Cox added: “He’s just struggled for a while. I think he’s doing great now.”

Cox also acknowledged in her interview with The Sunday Times that she enjoys reuniting with her former co-stars and that she will never tire of talking about her time on the program.

“No, that was such a huge part of my life,” she said. “It was such a lucky situation that I fell into the show, and I went through so many things in those 10 years.”

She further added: “We’re just really comfortable. We’ve shared so much history together and we laugh. Lisa’s laugh alone is the most infectious laugh I’ve ever heard. It’s adorable. We have deep conversations, we also have silly times.”
