The actor’s “star dimmed” as word spread about his “unprofessional” on-set behavior and his celebration of drug culture, according to Johnny Depp’s former agent, who testified Thursday.
In a taped deposition, Tracey Jacobs of United Talent Agency described how she helped the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star develop a successful career only for him to squander it through drugs and alcohol.

“It worsened over time,” she said in the recording played for the Fairfax, Virginia, jury.
After the success of the first “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie, Jacobs said, “[Depp] became the biggest star in the world.”
Amber Heard’s lawyer Elaine Bredehoft asked: “Do you take any credit for that?”
“Yes,” the agent replied.

The Hollywood power broker said she was fired in 2016 because “he terminated essentially everyone in his life and I was along for the ride, I guess.”
Jacobs said that at the end of their time together, the actor’s “unprofessional behavior” had damaged his Hollywood reputation.
Jacobs described the film industry as a “small community.” “People converse.”
Depp eventually began “coming up late to set on practically every movie,” she continued. I’d be screamed at.”
According to Jacobs, she traveled to Australia twice during the filming of the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean” film because of Depp’s behavior.

According to his former agent, Depp used an earpiece and arrived late-onset.
“I was very honest with him and said, ‘You’ve got to stop doing this, it’s hurting you.’ And it did,” she said.
Jacobs also testified that no one at Disney had committed to hiring Depp for the sixth installment of the “Pirates” franchise in conversations with her.

“[Depp’s] star dimmed. People were talking and the question was out there about his behavior.”
As the sixth week of the trial draws to a close, Jacobs’ testimony put doubt on Depp’s claims that Heard’s charges of domestic abuse affected his career.
Depp is suing his ex-wife for $50 million after she wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post in 2018 describing herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse.” Even though his name was never mentioned in the piece, he argues it defamed him.

Heard is suing for $100 million, saying that the actor’s lawyers defamed her by launching a “smear campaign” against her at his request.
The closing arguments are expected on May 27.
