Johnny Depp once called Amber Heard a “c**t” and referred to her “rotting corpse” in a text to a friend, a US court heard on Wednesday. The message was read on Wednesday (13 April) as part of the defamation case opposing Depp and Heard in Fairfax, Virginia.
Elaine Bredehoft, Heard’s lawyer, disclosed messages between Depp and Isaac Baruch during cross-examination.

‘I hope Heard’s rotting corpse is decomposing in the f**king trunk of a Honda Civic,’ the actor allegedly said to Baruch. Depp also wrote of his ex-wife: “That c**t ruined such a f**king cool life we had for a while.”
When questioned whether he wrote the message or not, Baruch replied: “Yeah, it was written.”
The texts were allegedly sent back in 2016, with Baruch attempting to brush off the messages in the courtroom by saying: “He’s called me a c**t in a text.”

That remark sparked a wave of laughing in the courtroom.
Depp is seeking $50 million (AU$67 million) in damages after Heard claimed she was a victim of ‘sexual violence’ in the Washington Post in 2018.
Despite the fact that Depp’s name was not mentioned in the op-ed, he argues the essay harmed his reputation and career.
For 42 years, Baruch has been a close friend of Depp’s and has lived rent-free next door at one of the actor’s properties.

Baruch was one of the numerous witnesses that testified in the Fairfax County courtroom in Virginia, and he grew very emotional behind the witness stand at one point.
He said: “I want this all to end – her to go heal, him to go heal. So many people have been affected by this malicious lie that she started and she created.
“It’s not fair, it’s not right what she did, and what happened.
“For so many people to get affected from this, it’s insane, how this happened.”

He said in court: “I fell in love with her just like Johnny did. She’s totally respectful, and gracious, she’s got great teeth. She treated me with complete respect. Humor-wise total locker room humor, demented humor.
“Every time I walked into that place ‘Isaac you want something to eat, you want something to drink’.”
When questioned about how his sentiments for Heard changed when images alleging domestic abuse from Depp were leaked to the media, he broke down in tears.

He said: “About the phony pictures that were taken and put in tabloids? And about the fake narrative? And about the way that she’s trying to … extort and blackmail a man? Yeah, that kind of got me … frustrated, confused, angry.”
Similar texts were released in Depp’s libel lawsuit against the British newspaper The Sun in 2020.
In court, a message from Depp to actor Paul Bettany was revealed, saying: “I will f**k her burnt corpse afterward to make sure she’s dead.”
