According to a recent study, the majority of Americans oppose Joe Biden or Donald Trump running for president in 2024. A total of 1,541 respondents were surveyed in the YouGov and Yahoo poll, which was conducted between June 10 and June 13, 2022.
The poll was taken when the US experienced its highest rate of inflation in more than 40 years and many people found it difficult to keep up with rising living expenses and petrol prices.
The study revealed that 64 percent of respondents thought the current POTUS should not run in 2024, while only 21 percent thought Biden should serve another term.
Also, only 15% of respondents said they weren’t sure if the 79-year-old should run for government in two years.
Trump’s percentages weren’t any better, despite the findings appearing to be favorable for the previous president.
55 percent of respondents said the 76-year-old shouldn’t run for president again in 2024, 31 percent said yes, and 14 percent were uncertain.
Only 25% of those polled were opposed to a re-run, showing that Trump still has the support of Republican party voters, with a 58 percent majority stating they would support him.
When asked who they would support if Trump and Biden faced off in the 2024 election, the majority of respondents who supported Trump gave Biden an even more unfavorable response.
Only 39 percent of respondents indicated they would vote for Joe Biden, compared to 42 percent who said they would support Donald Trump and 20 percent who said they were unsure.
Trump saw a minor decline in popularity after the start of the committee hearing on January 6, 2021, despite having a much stronger hold on his party than Biden did.
The focus of the publicly broadcast hearings has been on Trump’s involvement in the attack on the US Capitol. Trump has disputed claims that he directed Mike Pence to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
On January 6, almost 36% of respondents who supported Biden’s bid for president in 2024 watched the hearings live, while 24% merely viewed the news coverage.
The January 6 hearings were watched live by 73 percent of those who stated they would not support Trump in 2024, and 59 percent followed press coverage.
Per ABC News, Trump responded to the committee hearings that were investigating him at a religious gathering in Nashville, Tennessee, saying: “There’s no clearer example of the menacing spirit that has devoured the American left than the disgraceful performance being staged by the ‘unselect’ committee.”
“They’re con people. They’re con artists. Every one of them is a radical left hater, hates all of you, hates me even more than you, but I’m just trying to help you out,” he added.
