On TikTok, a women-only gym in Kansas has generated a debate. Although Blush Fitness has been praised for offering a safe and friendly environment for women to work out, some are calling the concept as ‘segregation.’
@heatherhuesman submitted a video of the gym to TikTok with the caption: “The best gym on the planet! We need these everywhere; going to the gym feels so safe and cozy; it’ll be my new favorite spot!”

She said: “I personally like to wear tight clothing because it is easier to work out in, and I don’t have to worry about men taking photos of me without my permission, or worry about men making me feel uncomfortable while I’m there.”

“There are also not so many people there that all the racks are being taken up. The place is very clean and has great energy and vibes to it!”

The video is a fast tour of the gym, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and offers free sanitary items as well as blacked-out windows to keep prying eyes out.

The gym also informs members when male personnel will be present, and the doors are locked to prevent non-members from entering.

And hundreds of women have taken to the video to praise the gym, with one person commenting: “This makes me so happy I wanna cry I literally get panic attacks going alone. Please spread these everywhere.”
Meanwhile, another added: “Until men can learn how to be respectful and not make women feel uncomfortable or unsafe, spaces like this are 100 percent necessary.”

And a third said: “Can this become a chain and move to other states? This is a nationwide MUST.”
However, some men were kicking off in the comments, with many calling it “segregation”.
One said: “This doesn’t sound like equality.”
While another wrote: “Ain’t we stop segregation like 60 years ago?”
But others in the comments hit back, with one writing: “Not these men acting like there’s no such thing as gentlemen’s clubs and men-only country clubs.”
While another added: “Y’all are okay with gendered restrooms, clothes, toys, toiletries and boys/girls-only school. But draw a line at a gym made only for women.”
