Jennifer Lopez changes her last name as she shares details from her Vegas wedding ceremony to Ben Affleck: ‘Best night of our lives’

Eventually, Jennifer walked down the aisle! Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are now officially husband and wife!

The twice-engaged couple wed on the late night of Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada at the A Little White Wedding Chapel. Lopez published pictures, videos, and information from the big day in her On the JLo fan newsletter on Sunday, confirming that the two had indeed tied the knot. She wrote, “We did it. “Love is wonderful. Love is kind. Love, it turns out, is a patient thing. twenty years of patience.”

“Last night we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world,” Lopez continued. “Behind us, two men held hands and held each other. In front of us, a young couple who made the three-hour drive from Victorville on their daughter’s second birthday — all of us wanting the same thing — for the world to recognize us as partners and to declare our love to the world through the ancient and nearly universal symbol of marriage.”

Lopez continues, “They “graciously” stayed open late and let the couple to “take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, obviously formerly used by the king himself,” despite the fact that they “barely made” it to the wedding chapel by midnight (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show, that cost extra and he was in bed).

Bennifer’s followers might have expected a lavish, extravagant wedding, but Lopez called it “the best possible wedding we could have imagined.” “

The bride and groom made use of “a dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben’s closet” to wear for the ceremony. Lopez and Affleck also read their vows to each other “in the little chapel and gave one another the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives.”

“When love is real, the only thing that matters in marriage is one another and the promise we make to love, care, understand, be patient, loving and good to one another,” Lopez wrote. “We had that. And so much more. Best night of our lives.”

According to court records published on Sunday, Lopez, 52, and Affleck, 49, were granted a license on Saturday in Clark County, Nevada, according to The Associated Press. The news was initially reported by TMZ. According to the filing, Lopez intends to adopt the name, Jennifer Affleck.

“They were right when they said, ‘all you need is love,’ ” Lopez concluded in her newsletter Sunday. “We are so grateful to have that in abundance, a new wonderful family of five amazing children and a life that we have never had more reason to look forward to. … Love is a great thing, maybe the best of things — and worth waiting for.”

The singer signed off “with love, Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”

In the video shown in April related to her engagement, Lopez admires the ring, and said, “You’re perfect.” Affleck proposed with a ring featuring two smaller diamonds on each side of a large green diamond in the middle –  a different shade from the pink diamond with which he proposed to her the first time, nearly 20 years ago.

Lopez opened up about the details of Affleck’s “bubble bath proposal” in another issue of her newsletter the following week.

“Saturday night while at my favorite place on earth (in the bubble bath), my beautiful love got on one knee and proposed,” Lopez wrote at the time. “I was taken totally off guard and just looked in his eyes smiling and crying at the same time trying to get my head around the fact that after 20 years this was happening all over again.”

She added, “I was quite literally speechless and he said, ‘Is that a yes?’ I said, ‘YES of course that’s a YES.’ ”

Lopez and Affleck sparked reconciliation rumors after the pair were spotted together on multiple occasions, fresh off Lopez’s split from former baseball star Alex Rodriguez in April 2021.

When Lopez posted a picture of herself kissing Affleck while celebrating her 52nd birthday last July, the two appeared to confirm their romance by going Instagram official. On the relationship reveal, she wrote, “5 2… what it do……”

While Lopez was still wed to her second husband, dancer Cris Judd, they first met in 2002 while working together on the romantic comedy “Gigli.” Although the film received poor reviews, there was little doubt that Lopez and Affleck had a romantic relationship. Shortly after Lopez’s divorce from Judd, the couple made their relationship public.

The “Hustlers” star told People when she met Affleck at the time, “I felt like… ‘Okay, this is it.’ “

In the early 2000s, “Bennifer” completely dominated popular culture. The Hollywood power couple engaged in November 2002, but there was no happily ever after the bended knee. In 2004, Lopez and Affleck called their engagement off. They attributed the breakup to all the media attention.

Affleck said that he and Lopez’s high-profile romance was too public in 2008.

“I think Jen and I made a mistake in that we fell in love, we were excited and maybe too accessible,” Affleck said. “I don’t think either of us anticipated the degree to which it would take on a world of its own.”
