Makeup company debunks claim made by Amber Heard’s lawyer amid defamation trial

Milani Cosmetics refutes a claim made by Amber Heard’s lawyers in her defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp.

Depp is suing Heard for allegedly defaming him by describing herself as a victim of domestic violence in 2018 op-ed written for The Washington Post. The actor is seeking $50 million in damages, claiming he was the one abused and that the allegations had cost him lucrative movie roles. Heard has countersued for $100 million, arguing that Depp saying she fabricated the story has in fact defamed her.

Many details from the couple’s marriage have already been made public as the trial continues to make headlines. Heard claimed that Depp cut the tip of his finger off and revealed that he would never return to Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

According to the New York Post, Heard’s lawyer said during opening remarks this week that the star had grown “quite skilled” at concealing bruises with a Milani Conceal + Perfect All-in-One Correcting Kit during her relationship with Depp.

Holding up the compact, attorney Elaine Bredehoft told the courtroom: “This was what she used.

“She became very adept at it. You’re going to hear the testimony from Amber about how she had to mix the different colors for the different days of the bruises as they developed in the different coloring and how she would use to touch those up to be able to cover those.”

Milani has now taken the matter to social media to debunk these claims. In a 15-second video shared on the official Milani TikTok page (@milanicosmetics) on Thursday, the company revealed that the dates just don’t add up. “You asked us… let the record show that our Correcting Kit launched in 2017,” the post’s caption read.

Over footage from the courtroom and Milani employees conducting their “investigation”, the company writes: “Take note: alleged abuse was around 2014-2016, got divorced 2016, makeup palette release date: December 2017.”

In response to the video – which has since amassed more than 3.8 million views – TikTok users were quick to comment their support for the makeup brand for “calling out” Heard.
