Christian Wilkins has presented his original perspective on the idea of gender. The 27-year-old socialite, who is known for challenging gender stereotypes by donning clothes on the red carpet, expressed his viewpoint last month in an interview with The Star Observer.
When asked on whether he identifies as non-binary, Christian simply replied: ‘I would probably identify all of us as non-binary to be completely honest.’
One who does not exclusively identify as a male or a woman is referred to as non-binary.
Christian, a gay man who uses the pronouns he/him, declined to elaborate on his statement, but it is understood that he was referring to the idea that gender is a spectrum rather than a binary.
The blonde also stressed the value of accepting your uniqueness and letting go of your detractors.
‘In this world, there’s only one person that you can count on, and that’s yourself, and if wearing a little pink dress, wearing something sparkly, or wearing pants, or whatever, makes you happy, you should do it because your happiness is actually really what matters in this world,’ he said.
It comes after the Filthy Rich and Homeless actor defended himself against those who object to him wearing dresses in previous weeks.
‘If you met me and attacked my personality, that would upset me, but if you think I’m wrong for wearing a dress because I have a doodle, you’re an idiot,’ Christian, who is the son of entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins, said earlier this month.
‘Not only do I think it’s homophobic, but it’s misogynistic. It’s this notion of, “I’m a man and I’m dressing like a woman, and therefore that makes me less.”‘
‘That’s a disgusting notion. It’s 2022, whatever’ he added.
Christian said he feels beautiful in dresses and has been donning them since he was around 10 years old.
‘There’s nothing more beautiful in the world than someone who feels beautiful in an outfit. It just radiates through you,’ he explained.
