Wannabe drug dealer caught on the first day dealing after turning to crime to pay off debt

In a hilarious turn of events, an amateur drug dealer got caught on the first day of his dealing career. Just imagine! Rudy Young, a resident of Blackpool, Lancashire, was engaged as a scrap metal trader until his marriage broke down and he became addicted to cocaine.

The 35-year-pricey old’s habit led to debt accumulation, so he turned to deal as a way to get money.

However, authorities examined Young’s automobile after noticing a person peering through the window on January 20, 2021.

Two mobile phones, £450 in cash, many snap bags containing white powder, and text messages on one of the phones pertaining to drug trading were also discovered inside, prosecutor Claire Larton told Preston Crown Court.

After his 16-year marriage came to an end, Young started using cocaine more frequently as a coping mechanism, according to Julie Taylor, the defendant’s attorney.

After that, he racked up substantial debts and was under pressure to settle them. Young decided to sell narcotics to pay off his obligations because he was worried about the effects it would have on his family and his business. He was also handed a mobile phone to receive orders.

“He wasn’t very successful,” Taylor said. “He got caught on the very first day.”

Young admitted to possessing Class A drugs with the intent to resell them. He has only received two cautions and no prior convictions, the court was informed.

“You are obviously a resourceful person since you set up your own business as a licensed scrap metal trader,” said Judge Simon Medland QC during the sentencing process. You want to succeed in the world and in your relationship.

“Your problem arose inevitably because you began to take cocaine, which is a destructive, addictive, and expensive substance.

“Those who take it inevitably can’t afford it, and you end up being trapped up in a cycle of your own causing, where you are brought into contact with those who are serious criminals who want you to do their work.

“My message that Class A drugs destroy people’s lives is one I am sure you agree with. They destroy people’s health and well-being, and they destroy people’s social stability. All those things they have done to you.”

Even though Young had no prior convictions and there had been a significant delay in getting the case to court, the judge acknowledged that the case had crossed the custody threshold.

Young also adhered to a curfew that was electronically tracked and helped the probation service create a pre-sentence report.

Young was given a two-year sentence from Judge Medland QC with two years of probation, as well as 150 hours of unpaid labor.

McDonald’s UK raises the price of cheeseburgers for the first time in 14 years

After a long time of 14 years, the company has decided to raise the price of its signature cheeseburger for the first time ever. With immediate effect, the price raises by a fifth to £1.19, and additional price increases will follow as prices soar.

The fast food juggernaut has been selling its popular burgers for 99p in the UK, enabling consumers to indulge in the meat treat for less than a pound.

Maccies has now clarified, however, that “just like you, our firm, our franchisees who own and run our restaurants, and our suppliers are all experiencing the burden of growing inflation,” requiring a price increase.

The price of the cheeseburger will rise to £1.19 starting on July 27. Throughout the summer, a number of menu items will see price increases ranging from 10p to 20p.

Alistair Macrow, chief executive officer of McDonald’s UK and Ireland, said: “At times like this, we know that providing great value is important. Since we opened in the UK in 1974, we’ve committed to offering great tasting food at affordable prices, and that commitment will not change.

“But, today’s pressures mean, like many, we’re having to make some tough choices about our prices.

“This summer, our restaurants will be adding between 10p and 20p to a number of the menu items impacted most by inflation. From today, we’ll be increasing the price of our cheeseburger for the first time in over 14 years, taking it from 99p to £1.19. Some prices remain unaffected, and some will continue to vary across our restaurants.”

He continued: “We understand that any price increases are not good news, but we have delayed and minimised these changes for as long as we could. We will continue to listen to what you want from us and work tirelessly to find solutions to today’s cost challenges affecting our business.”

However, there is good news: halloumi fries have just been brought to UK menus.

The halloumi fries are one of eight new Mediterranean-inspired items that McDonald’s has added to its menu this summer in honor of Cyprus, Italy, and Spain.

Customers will pay £2.49 for a conventional quantity of halloumi fries (four sticks), while a larger “sharing” portion sells for £6.49. Whether you share them is up to you, though.

90 Day Fiancé UK star Who Sends Filipino Fiancée £400 A Month Begged By Family To Stop

The 90 Day Fiancé UK star Shaun has confessed to paying his fiance Christine and her four children in the Philippines £400 per month as support. His family begs him to stop sending £400 ($480) a month to his Filipino fiancée, but he doesn’t care as he insists that “what the heart wants, the heart gets.”

Shaun, a resident of Botley, Hampshire, has been dating Christine, a 42-year-old mother of four from the Philippines, for ten years. They met online.

Despite Christine being approximately 7,000 miles away in Antipolo City, the couple began dating the following year, and they now have a son named Christian.

Shaun has been giving Christine £400 a month to support her and her children while working to get her a visa so she may relocate to the UK.

Shaun, a cleaning manager, said: “From all these eight years I’ve been with Christine, I wouldn’t know how much money I would have sent her.

“But all I know is it’s in the hundreds of thousands. It’s worth every penny.

“After I’ve sent Christine the money, there’s enough for me to pay my bills at least, and then when I look again, I’ve got about £50-£60 for myself, and that’s more than enough to see me through the month.”

Shaun must continue to save thousands of dollars so that they may formally separate since Christine is still married and hasn’t been able to get a divorce.

He continued: “I don’t have the money, but I am going to be saving up for it, and then we can get married.

“Yes, they’re still married, but they don’t live with each other. I don’t feel jealous about it, because I know she loves me, and I love her.”

His friends and relatives have voiced their disapproval of the couple’s relationship, but he insists that he doesn’t care what people think.

He said: “When I started sending her money, my parents and all my friends started saying, ‘Why are you sending her money?’

“But, to be honest with you, I don’t really care, I’m following my heart. It’s my choice. So, you either be part of me in the circle, or you’re not.”

In a conversation with his parents, the 90 day star tells them: “Well, one it’s got nothing to do with you, and two, mind your own business.

“What the heart wants, the heart gets. Alright? I chose this path for me.”

Christine, meanwhile, added: “Shaun and I are hoping for the best future for Christian – not just for Christian, but also for my other children.”

She added that they intend to bring her other children to live with them once they are adequately financially secure in the UK.

Shaun and his partner, Christine, say they're in a happy relationship

Christine added: “I love him and I like him because he embraced my imperfections. He loves me in a package, together with my children and my exes!”

The UK reaches the hottest ever temperature as 40.2C was recorded at Heathrow

At Heathrow Airport, the 40C (104F) record was provisionally broken, setting a new record for Britain.

When 39.1C was provisionally recorded on Tuesday morning at Charlwood in Surrey and 40.2C was later reported at Heathrow at 12:50 p.m., the previous record of 38.7C in 2019 was first broken, according to the Met Office.

The 40°C figure “may be as much as 10 times more likely in the current environment than under a natural climate unaffected by human impact,” warn Met Office scientists, who claim that the prediction is a result of climate change.

The high heat could result in thousands more deaths than necessary, according to Professor Penelope Endersby, chief executive of the Met Office, therefore people should take heat warnings as seriously as those concerning other serious weather phenomena, like snow or wind.

She told BBC Radio 4’s Today program: “Our warnings are always impact-based, so, when we put out warnings, if they’re red, that means there’s a danger to life and we’re expecting major infrastructure impacts, and that’s true, whether it’s snow, wind, rain, and it’s true of this heat warning.

“We’re certainly seeing people reacting a little bit different to the heat warnings as though they think that maybe we shouldn’t be telling them to worry about heat the way we tell them to worry about storm or wind.”

A sign at Alexandra Palace train station in north London, saying no trains are running due to the hot weather.

She further added: “These temperatures are unprecedented in the UK and we’re not used to dealing with them. And heat undoubtedly causes many hundreds, thousands of excess deaths in heatwaves, so people do need to take care and follow the advice we’ve been putting out about keeping in the shade, keeping cool, keeping hydrated, and so on.”

While train companies advised people not to travel today or tomorrow, certain schools in various counties, including Nottinghamshire and Hampshire, have indicated they will close.

Passengers are advised not to travel because Network Rail will close the East Coast Main Line on Tuesday from midday to 8:00 p.m. for all places between London King’s Cross and York and Leeds.

Sam MacDougall, operations director for Network Rail said: “Closing the line to traffic is always a last resort but it is the right thing to do to keep people safe on Tuesday given the unprecedented heatwave forecast.

“The forecast temperatures are well above those which our infrastructure is designed for, and safety must come first.”

Hospitals are likely to be “very, really pressed” over the next few days, according to the chairman of the NHS Confederation, thus additional contingency support for ambulance services has been implemented, including more call handlers and extended working hours.

Britons are advised to avoid going outside between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., use sunscreen, hats, and protective clothing, and drink enough water to stay hydrated.

The Man who left his partner for a Ukrainian refugee becomes a full-time carer after she goes partially blind

Tony Garnett vigorously defended Sofiia Karkadym, his new partner, claiming that “she’s no homewrecker” and that splitting from his ex-partner was the “proper thing to do.”

The 29-year-old said that Ms. Karkadym had been falsely accused of ending their romance when they first started dating.

Since the two left the home they shared with his former girlfriend, Lorna, and moved into a leased home in Bradford, he said that a “weight has been lifted off our shoulders.”

The council stated that additional changes to their home were required before they could get assistance through the Homes for Ukrainians scheme, putting the new couple under additional financial strain as a result of her eye surgery.

Father-of-two, who left their partner of 10 years for Ukrainian refugee plans to marry her and start a family.

Sofiia arrived at Garnett's family home in Bradford, West Yorkshire, in May after fleeing the conflict in her native Ukraine, but within days the pair had developed a connection

In order to care for Ms. Karkadym, who is partially blind in her right eye, Mr. Garnett told Metro.co.uk that he had quit his shift job. He also stated that he saw himself as her full-time carer.

“People are painting her as a villain who has come to the UK and stolen a British man,” he said.

“Nothing could be further from the truth. It was a mutual decision.

Sofiia has now gone partially blind following an eye operation, it has emerged

“It wasn’t as if we had met each other and decided then and there to move out. I was leaving regardless, because I’d had enough of Lorna, who took against Sofiia straight away.

“There was a lot of drama and a lot of stress when we lived with Lorna.

“Whenever I came home it was difficult for Sofiia and me to be around her at a time when we should have been helping a refugee make a new life here.

The 29-year-old told The Sun that he and his new love have incurred a torrent of hateful abuse online over their decision, while some people threatened to try and get Sofiia deported

“I just wanted to take Sofiia away and look after her, I wanted to help someone who was fleeing from Ukraine.

“She’s not a homewrecker.

“I left to help her, and what happened after has happened, but it takes two to tango. She is being called a homewrecker on social media while I am having messages saying congratulations.”

In a recent post to her Instagram page, the Ukrainian IT worker said what she took to be a few facts of the matter.

Jilted mother Lorna (pictured with ex-partner Tony) shared her anger after she let the Ukrainian woman into her home
Sofiia Karkadym (pictured) arrived in the UK at the start of May after fleeing the war in Ukraine

She said Garnett’s decision to leave his long-term partner was a ‘conscious and considered’ one.

She again denied that she ‘stole’ anyone and attacked media coverage of the story which she said was ‘clearly exaggerated and written in such a way as to be as dramatic as possible.’

‘The first thing I want to say is that I did not steal anyone from the family. It was his conscious and considered decision, the decision of a 29-year-old man who has the right to fall in love, has the right to be happy and has the right to choose who to be with,’ Sofiia wrote.

Man posing as security tricks bank staff into handing over £150k

Staff members at a south London bank were fooled into passing over £150,000 by a man impersonating a security guard. With only a false ID, the brazen burglar apparently pretended to be a G4S security guard wearing a similar uniform. Six boxes of cash, each containing £25,000, were given to the man outside the Santander store in Brixton.

The robber entered the building while posing as a G4S security guard and appeared to be appropriately attired in a uniform, helmet, and visor. He also presented a fake ID.

When he didn’t return to the bank to sign for the money transfer, the staff realized something had gone dreadfully wrong and allowed them to go immediately with six boxes of cash, each containing £25,000.

When staff called G4S to inquire about the money pickup, they were horrified to learn that no pickup had ever been planned.

According to The Sun, this bank robbery is referred to as ‘a Noah’s Ark job’ as the boxes of money were taken out ‘two by two’.

They claim that the individual wasn’t even donning a legitimate G4S outfit, which raises doubts about how he could enter and persuade employees to hand over £150,000 in cash.

It’s believed that he hired a getaway driver who was waiting around the corner to whisk him and the money away from the crime scene quickly.

Despite the apparent flaws in his disguise, he at least avoided becoming another unlucky robber who failed to put his balaclava on while stealing money from a store.

One benefit of the bank robbery is that he may have stolen six boxes of destroyed cash because each box has a dye pack that can ruin the bank notes.

Without the specialized assistance of an insider, he might not be able to access the boxes without compromising the dishonest earnings.

Sadly, if the thief has inside support, he has just pulled off one of the most straightforward bank robberies in history by tricking employees into giving him the money.

Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made as of yet since the incident is being investigated by members of the Met’s flying squad.
