TikToker celebrates getting sterilized after the six-year struggle to find a doctor to perform the surgery

A young woman has made the difficult decision not to have children and has finally located a doctor who will sterilize her. She said that she went through a six-year battle in which she begged a number of doctors to perform the procedure.

Abby Ramsay, a Los Angeles native, told her TikTok audience that she knew she didn’t want to have children by the time she was 16 because she didn’t want the responsibility of raising a child.

Several doctors, however, urged her to try therapy instead because she was too young to make such an irreversible decision regarding her body.

She finally got her wish granted after six years of searching for sterilization surgery.

And in a viral video posted to TikTok last month, Abby is seen approaching a box with “Congratulations” written on it. She lifts the lid and removes the paperwork confirming her sterilization.

She captioned the video: “I’m excited to take control of my own body. I’m not a baby maker. #childfree #childfreebychoice #sterilization #celebration.”

The video has gathered up nearly 4 million views, more than 600,000 likes, and thousands of comments at the time of writing.

One person took to the comments to write: “I’ll never understand why for them we are old enough to have kids, be married and work a 9to5 job but not to decided to not have children. Congrats!”
